• When my son was in 4th grade, he struggled every day to get his homework done because of his ADHD, even with my help. One day, I knew we had to be as efficient as possible with his homework assignments because he had an appointment that evening. I had made soup that day and gave him a bowl when he got home from school as we started with his first assignment. Within minutes, he started having an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in the soup to the point that I had to give him Benadryl, which we rarely needed to do. I thought to myself, “Well, there goes any chance of getting homework done… now he’s just going to get sleepy.” To my amazement, he got more homework complete in the next 40 minutes than I had EVER experienced before! He was focused and motivated and did not get distracted even once. I was dumfounded! It was exactly the opposite response that I had expected and experienced before. Now, I knew we couldn’t give him Benadryl every afternoon, but I always wondered what the mechanism was that produced the resulting ability for him to focus like that. And is there a natural herb or ingredient that could produce the same mechanism of action? I have tried different homeopathic remedies and herbs for him over the years, but nothing has worked so far. Now he’s a senior in high school!
